Resting at Home

[Hinata Nakayama]

Hina was resting in her own bed after being released by the fourth squad member in charge of the hospital. They figured it may be more beneficial for her to rest at home where her family could watch
after her better than what they could. Of course, someone would visit once in a while to check in on her. For now, Hina was sleeping. Her wounds were healed and for the most part, she was progressing. It was just strange that she hasn't woken up yet. Even so, people kept Checking in on Hina. Her mother and siblings, Shiori, and even a few of her squad mates.


This time, it was Kentaro. He has been seeing Hina for some time now. He understood some of her family aren't fond of their relationship but he was not going to let that stop him. He was sitting by the bed, keeping watch. He would gently move a few strands of hair behind her ear.

"I hope you wake up soon. A lot of people, me included, miss you. I'm here for you and so are they."

He would then reach down to gently hold her hand. Hopefully, she'll wake up soon.

[Shiori Onigata]

As Kentaro was holding Hina’s hand Azumi, Kaori and Yuri were there with him. Ryouji, Shukumei and Yuri’s father managed to get Hina back but now, Hina was a Visored. She was now living with a hollow just like the rest of them. Azumi tried healing her with Kido, and while her physical wounds are healed there was something keeping her asleep.

Without warning the door to her room was flung open and Shiori angrily stepped in with Emi behind her. While glad to have Hina back thanks to her dad and Auntie and Auntie Yuri’s father. She can’t remember his name but it doesn’t matter. Shiori was pacing back and forward trying not to lose it but she can’t…help it!

[Shiori]: “I can’t take it anymore…Auntie Yuri…you have to get Hina in your squad. Protect her…so this won’t ever happen again. I can’t bear if something happened to Hina!!”

Of course she wanted to keep Hina safe! She was family and the accountant for the Kusanagi family safe. Shiori had another idea, she shouted for her father and of course he came into the room.

[Ryouji]: “Is everything okay, what’s wrong Shiori?”

Shiori explained what the problem was. Hina needed a protector. Someone who will look out for her so she would not be taken advantage of ever again. Ryouji turned and looked at Hina and then to Azumi and Kaori, and shook his head.

[Ryouji]: “Not a chance in hell. Look I understand how you feel. I was the same way at one point with Yuri. When she was taken, and I managed to get her back, I nuzzled her and threaten to harm anyone who dared hurt her. I had to learn that Yuri was going to be fine! Hina doesn’t need me to look after her, she will be fine. I will always back her up if the situation arises!”

After hearing her father’s reason for saying no to her, Shiori was at a loss for words. She understood however, he’s retired. Of course he was always going to be there for all of them.

[Shiori]: “I wonder if I could ask [Redacted] but no, [Redacted] would be busy I guess!”

Upon hearing Shiori utter that name, Emi used her Restruction’s ability and took everyone’s memory of that away except herself and Shiori. She turned to face Emi, wondering why she did it?

[Emi]: “Please don’t say that! It’s a surprise for Uncle ‘Ouji and Auntie Mei-Mei! Why don’t you have Kenta, look after her! That seems like a great idea!”

Shiori turned and looked to Kentaro and immediately grew angry at there mere mention of Kentaro being the one to look after Hina. It did for all intents and purposes make the most sense. Plus Emi was wanting him to prove himself to Shiori.

[Shiori]: “Kentaro…”

He looked off to the direction in which his name came from. Upon realizing that it was Shiori who called to him and instantly he was held up in the air by his Shihakusho. He shrieked and was trying to free himself but the grip on him was to tight.

[Shiori]: “Look…I am trusting you to look after Hinata, if I get word that you aren’t…I will…let’s just pretend that you will keep her safe above all else! Got it?”

Kentaro agreed immediately and was let go. What was Mr. Onigata feeding to his kids? That was the hardest he has ever been gripped in his life!! Once he straightened out his shihakusho, Ryouji placed his hand on his shoulder. The best thing when hoping to become apart of his family is that he is nice compared to his daughters and nieces…except Emi.

Yuri was listening to Shiori's plea in order to keep Hina safe. He'll, she thought of transferring her to her squad. However, the more she thought about it, the more she was against it.

"As much as I would like to, I don't think it's a good idea. It's the same reason why I made sure she wasn't in a squad with Shukumei or anyone else in the family. People would begin to question whether or not Hina is a Shinigami of her own or just someone who used family status to rise in the ranks. Not really hat she would, mind you. You know how conscious she is about what others think. "

Now, she was completely unaware of Hina's new "status" as a Visored. For all she knew, her daughter was just in a coma and is having a hard time waking up. Of course she was worried. There was nothing she could do and she hated that feeling.

As for Kentaro, he was scared. Who wouldn't be with a threat like that! He would probably have to transfer squads, but if that's what it took, so be it. He would sit back down beside Hina's bed, holding her hand once more.

"I'll do whatever it takes. I'll even speak to my Captain to get things taken care of. You have my word I'll keep her safe."

Then, something caught his attention. For a moment, it felt like something squeezed his hand. Could it have been Hina? Was it an involuntary action? It wasn't before long Hina slowly opened her eyes, trying to focus in on what was going on. It was then she looked around to see everyone from Kentaro to her family. Understanding that her family would want to be with her first, he would give her a small hug before moving aside to let her family do what they needed to. Yuri was the first to hug onto Hina, somehow managing to hold back her tears.

Hina would weakly hug back. For some reason, despite being healed, she still felt incredibly tired as I'd she had no energy at all. Even then, she seemed slightly confused as to why everyone was gathered in her room.

"Whats's going... On? How long have I been... Asleep? Why does everyone look so... Worried?"

[Azumi Onigata]

Azumi sighed, Hina was finally awake, at least something turned out right. She quickly hops down from the desk in which she was sitting on and made her way over to Hina and sat down on the bed. Before she could say anything, Shiori pushes poor Kentaro out her way so hard that he flew through the wall and into the hallway as she sat down on the bed and hugged her for dear life!!

Azumi was shocked by Shiori’s blatant strength but she is also shocked by how easily Shiori pushed Kenta through the wall. She would hate to be hated by Shiori. She stood up and walked to the hole in the wall and looked for Kenta.

[Azumi]: “Kenta, are you okay? I am so sorry that Shiori pushed you so hard!”

Kentaro was brushing the remaining wall, from his hair and face. He gave a thumbs up to let her know that he was fine. Azumi shook her head. While he was glad that he was okay at least. It was something that he would undoubtedly have to get use to.

Never in her life would she expect this wild uncontrollable family but she would have it any other way. The only trouble remaining was if Hina was actually okay. The fact that she could transform into a Visored was a new experience for her.

[Azumi]: “Hina…I am relieved that you are alright. We were so worried about you!!”

No matter what, Hina was going to have to fight the monster and gain control over it to gain access to what she knew would be the greatest weapons a Shinigami of her caliber would have.

Hopefully this would be the end of Hollowification, but something told her that this was only the beginning.

[Hinata Nakayama]

"Hina was very confused by the events that were unfolding. Shiori was hugging her, but it was Shiori's unprovoked violence toward Kentaro that truly concerned her. Why was she suddenly so angry with him? Hina didn't understand what could have happened to make Shiori lash out like that.

"Shiori.. Don't be so rough with Ken... He's doing the best he can."

She’d hug Shiori back, then slowly sit up to get a little more adjusted. Everyone in her room was acting like something horrible had happened to her. But Hina couldn’t remember why. She’d ask again why everyone was looking so worried. Ryouji gave her a strange look, curious as to why she didn't remember all the details of what had happened.

"What do you remember?"

Hina thought for a moment, trying to recall the previous events that had happened. Doing so made her wince, grasping the side of her head. The throbbing sensation was intense and it was a struggle to focus. She couldn’t help but feel anxious about everything that was happening. What had happened to her? What was this feeling she kept getting in her head? She didn’t know what to make of any of it. All she wanted was for this pain to go away so she could focus on getting better.

"I can't remember it all. I remember it was raining and you were there but... that's all. Anything else other than that is a blank. Trying to recall anything but that... hurts, for some reason."

Ryouji was surprised by Hina's memory loss. He remembers everything from his own Hollowification, so he doesn't know why this happened to her. Maybe it's too much for her to handle? He hopes there's something they can do to help her. That being said, he would have to tell her what happened. It was going to be a hard pill to swallow.


"When I found you, you were barely able to stand. Before I could get you home, some human showed up. With the snap of his fingers and uttering the word 'Release', he triggered... Your Hollowifiction."

When Hina heard that, her face became pale. Hollowification? Isn't that what her mother, him, and others in their family could do? Yuri, however, was livid. That wasn't quite the word. Now it made better sense why Shiori requested that Hina be transferred to her squad. Now it seemed more reasonable too, but she still wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do. She had been so worried about Hina's safety and well-being, but now she was even more concerned about what this new development might mean for her future.

"Damn it... For now, I'll talk to your Captain, Hina. You'll probably need some time to recover before you return to duty. After that... Well. Just focus on getting better."

She would go to Hina, giving her a tight hug before leaving to take care of that. After that... She'll have to make it a point to talk to Ryouji later to see if he remembers what this human looks like. Yuri then encourages Kentaro to return to the room to be with Hina. As for Hina, she would lie back down on her bed. She wasn't sure what she was going to do.

[Ryouji Onigata]

Since watching Yuri leave, Azumi hopped off of the bed where Hina was resting and walked up to Ryouji and gave him a kisses before leaving behind Yuri. Kaori followed her but before she left she turned and looked at Hina. She didn’t say anything to her, she just stared at her. She then followed Azumi out of the room. The way Kaori stared at her was a little odd. He thought nothing of it. When it was just Hina and Ryouji left in the room alone, he sat down on the bed and looked to her.

While he didn’t say so, he was glad that she was back home and safe. He was glad that she was okay. While he won’t be nearly as animated…or violent like Shiori, he still wanted her to be good and comfortable in a sense.

He can’t seem to get over something that Emi said and the result was him thinking that it was strange. First Hina was a little girl, then she was put in charge of handling all of the family’s finances, then Hina became a Shinigami. Why does he still have this feeling like he’s missing something? Ryouji wouldn’t dare mention it to her either. She didn’t need to know, that right now, he was glad that Hina was safe!

[Ryouji]: “Hina, do you need anything?”

[Hinata Nakayama]

When Kaori stared at her for a moment, she felt something she couldn't describe. It was like she was looking through her or something. It was a feeling she didn't like. Was she unhappy with her or something? No, that couldn't be it. Maybe like with her namesake, she just had to get used to her.

Now, it was just her and Ryouji. Everyone left to do what they needed to. Hina would look to her uncle for a moment, seeming to be in deep thought. Something... Something wasn't right. Something was urging her to get up. What... What in the world was going on? She was able to snap out of it when she heard him ask if there was anything she needed.

"I... Can't think of anything right now. My mind's on Shiori at the moment. She could be a force to be reckoned with, huh? Maybe when we get the chance to talk, she'll let her guard down. Or maybe... I should talk to Aunt Azumi... It's been a while since we had a good talk."


For a moment, she got the strangest stare from her Uncle. It caused her to tilt her head to the side. It was one thing for Kaori to stare, but him? It was a feeling she wasn't used to.

"Did... I say something strange? Shiori and I are good friends. You see how she acts in front of Ken. Why wouldn't she be lax? Er... Anyway... I think I could go for Azumi's cooking. I feel really hungry all of a sudden. I hope it's a good sign..."

[Ryouji Onigata]

When hearing how blank Hina was when speaking of Shiori and Azumi, Ryouji was shocked to put it plainly. It was as if she was a soulless person when it came to those to. Ryouji had a bad feeling, but it was Hina! He couldn’t just come out and say what he was feeling. He would keep it inside for now.

To make matters worse, ever since Hina could speak she has always called Azumi, “Aunt Azumi”; it was a term of endearment between families all of Yuri children referred to him and Azumi Uncle and Aunt, just as all of his children call Yuri Auntie and Tohru Uncle…except Ami because Yuri is her Mother-in-law. Emi still calls both of them Auntie and Uncle even though they are in laws!

When mentioning that she was hungry for Azumi’s cooking, as if she was normal, Ryouji knew that, something was wrong, but he had no one that he could explain it to. He placed his hands on Hina’s shoulder and forced a smile like nothing was going on.

[Ryouji]: “Well I am going downstairs to tell Azumi, to make you a special meal. Come downstairs when you are ready! We are glad to have you home!”

Ryouji released her shoulder and walked out of her room and went downstairs and into the kitchen where his wife and Kaori, were speaking. When Ryouji approached the two of the he immediately threw his ares around Azumi and gave her a big hug. Azumi smiled and told him to “stop embarrassing me” but this was different.

[Ryouji]: “Something is definitely going on with Hina…speaking about you and Shiori, there was this blank stare followed by this…this uncaring tone when speaking about you and Shiori…”

Kaori looked at Ryouji who was holding Azumi in his arms. She doesn’t know why but she got this strange feeling when she and Azumi was leaving. The way she stared at Hina before she left was…indescribable.

[Kaori]: “Ryouji…is right…When I looked at Hina, this mysterious air was surrounding her but it was quick, like a blink and you could miss it type of thing. Azumina, you must be careful…”

When Ryouji left, Hina rested back on her bed. Her head was spinning. Enough so that she placed a hand over her eyes. There was an internal struggle going on and she didn't know how much longer she could fight. It was like she was a prisoner in her own body and there was nothing she or anyone else could do about it. If she couldn't stop herself, there would be no coming back from it. Unfortunately, in her still weakened condition, it would be a struggle she would lose.

Once out of bed, Hina would bring herself to walk out of her room, heading to where Azumi and the others were. Hina would hold onto her arm as if trying to stop herself from doing something. To them, it may just be something she has always done. Something out of nervousness. Although... Why was she nervous? She was spending time with her family. There was nothing to be anxious about.

She could feel everyone's eyes on her. It's going to be a bit hard to do what she needs to. She would give a small wave before she would go up to Azumi to give her a big hug. She wanted things to be normal again... Why couldn't she stop herself?

"I thought I was hungry enough to eat something, but..."

Before anyone could react, Hina stabbed Azumi with her Zanpakuto. When they all got a glance at Hina, they would notice something. Her eyes looked glassed over. She wasn't in control of herself during the moment.

"...I unfortunately lost my appetite."

There was a bit of an internal struggle. Hina was trying her best to fight whatever was in control of her. This would be seen externally when Hina went to raise her sword to strike Azumi, but her free hand would grasp onto her wrist to hold it still.

"Get... away from... From me! I can't... Can't..."

Hina took a few steps back, her hand reaching for her face. Ryouji would notice what she was trying to do, but there was nothing he could do. Before he could stop her, her hollow mask formed over her face. As she spoke, they would hear her voice, albeit distorted from her hollowification.


" Time is running out. Before they take over again, We need to show you what they’ve done to us. The culmination of effort during those three months."

Hina would hold her hand over her zanpakuto, soon grasping the blade. Those around her would see her Reiryoku become visible, having a black outline as she was gathering enough power.

"Run, Conejo Empañado [Translation: Tarnished Rabbit]."




During the transformation, there was a lot of dust and debris that formed. It had obscured her from their view and once it settled, Ryouji and Kaori would see that Hina had taken even more of a hollow-like appearance. Her legs were akin to rabbit's feet, her nails lengthened to form claws. On the sides of her head, they would see what looked to be 'ears' shaped from the material of a Hollow's mask. That same material encased her legs as well. Were they seeing correctly? Did she undergo Resurrección like an Arrancar? It didn't make any sense at all!

"This is all we can tell you. Our words should be enough to give you clues to understand what we mean. If not, then we fear the outcome this encounter may bring."

With a quick Sonido, she would appear in front of her uncle. Would he understand what they were saying? Only time could tell. In one action, she would thrust her arm into his chest, letting it pierce through his back.

"With this... We say farewell."

She would pull out her arm, now drenched in blood, letting Ryouji fall to the ground. If they had to be the villain instead of Hina, so be it. It would probably sting a little less for her to believe that her Hollow was being controlled more than her. It would lift their sword into the air, preparing to bring it down for the potential final blow.

[Ryouji Onigata]

As Ryouji laid motionless right beside Azumi who was in dire straits herself crawled on the ground to her husband. She had to heal her Ryouji quickly, or else he would…she couldn’t think about that right now! As she raised her hand over his chest she did her best to heal him but, nothing was happening. Azumi looked at her hand, it was coming in and out of focus.

Azumi coughed up blood and she crawled over to Ryouji, while breathing heavily. She couldn’t understand why she couldn’t heal him. Her vision grew blurry and she was gasping for air. All of the sudden Ryouji, Kaori, Azumi, and Hollow Hina appeared outside thanks to Shiori. Emi appeared to be healing Azumi where the group of them appeared.

This entire situation was nuts, and the hollow version of Hina was the caused of it all! Azumi insisted that she heal Ryouji but Emi shook her head no, she would get healed and then Ryouji. Azumi sighed because she knew that Emi was right.

Shiori looked to her father and he wasn’t moving and most important, she couldn’t heal him. The wound was rejecting healing. She’s never seen anything like this and from a hollow who users its Resurrecion. What have they done to Hina?!

Ryouji on the other hand was basically on the brink of death, everything was getting dark. He simply remembered those who he loves. Azumi, Shizune, Ami, Shiori and Yuriko. Then there was Yuri, and all of her kids, especially Emi…how could he ever forget Emi. Ryouji heard a voice calling him stupid.

It was his hollow speaking to him. Calling him stupid again and again. What a fool. It was standing over is corpse.

[Hollow Ryouji]: “Look at this…This is what I get for hiding inside your mind…and now look at you. I will tell you what…just this once, I am going give you my power…all of my power is yours. The next time…you won’t get it back.”

The ground stared to shake as Ryouji’s body began to produce a jet black aura. Everyone including Shukumei and Mikasa, at their respective Squad Headquarters in Squad Three and Squad Five respectively glanced up followed by everyone was staring at Ryouji. Ryouji pushed himself to a standing position. A black reiatsu surrounds him, a massive amount of negative energy was in the air. When it had went away, Ryouji was standing there with a brand new hollow mask. Instead of being what he would consider being normal, this new version had two lines on the outside of his mask leading to the area where his mouth would be.

Now that a new version of Hollow Ryouji was standing there. He turned his head and glared at Hollow Hina…

The hollowfied Hina turned to her Uncle who now had a new form. Even his mask looked different than what she could remember. It seems he was able to tap into a power that must have been dormant for a while. While it would have been best to leave, the in control Hollow knew it would be pointless. From the previous display, it wouldn't take long for him to catch up. Not only that, it would drag others into a battle they didn't need to be in. Even so, what time it has left is slipping away.

"We were worried for a moment. Then again, we should have known better. Now, use that power to free us! Hunt the true monsters!"

Of course, it had a hunch it was going to be more difficult than that. That was unfortunately the course things would have to take. Before it could think to move, Ryouji easily closed the distance between them, delivering a strong blow to her gut which did knock the Hollow-Shinigami back. Thus, began their battle. During the exchange, both managed to land decent blows against the other. Hina managed to deliver a strong roundhouse kick to Ryouji's side who then retaliated with a diagonal slash to her chest.

It couldn't keep up this form for much longer. Too much energy and stamina had been used. In desperation, it would say one last thing in hopes that anyone would listen.

"Unfortunately, our time is up. We can feel our co trol being wrested away from us... This was the only way we could remain... Autotomy. Free us!"

Just what exactly was it trying to convey? Free it from what? Was it wanting to be free of it's Shinigami host or were there something more to its words? A strong blow from Ryouji landed in the middle of her back, sending her crashing in the ground. When the dirt settled, people would see that Hina wasn't where she was supposed to be. It took a moment for Ryouji to find her, but when he did, he noticed there were two men. One was holding an unconscious Hina who had reverted back to normal from using up too much energy. The other man would just stare down to the scene he watched unfold.

"Quite a shame things didn't go how I predicted, but that's fine. This whole situation has given me more information than I could possibly hoped for. To think that Hollows are as stubborn as they are... No matter. If this was the results of three months, I can only imagine what more time could bring. As much as I would enjoy finishing the task at hand, I'm only here to retrieve what's rightfully mine. If anything, this shows me that there is much to be done."

Without words said between the two, the follower gave a nod before turning around to leave. That is, before Ryouji appeared in front of them. While they may not have any intent to fight, the same could not be said for him.

[Ryouji Onigata]

With Hollow Ryouji standing in the way of his freedom. He roared loudly causing the a hole of time and space to open in front of him. Shiori was looking at what her father was doing. He was tearing open a hole, to another space. He reached forward and grabbed his Zanpakuto from where it fell when he was struck down by Hollow Hina. The tear in space vanished leaving Ryouji with his weapon.



The Zanpakuto transformed itself into its Bankai state without Ryouji even commanding it to do so. Shiori was confused to say the least…impressed but confused. She turned to Emi and shouted for her to get away but Emi refused because Azumi wasn’t back to full health and she wasn’t sure how long she would be until she was okay. There was no other choice, Shiori would have to get involved in order to keep everyone safe.

Shiori brought her hands together and performed two sets of hand signs. The first put up a barrier around Emi and her mother so she could heal her without worry. The second set was around her father and the enemy. She was already breathing heavily from the two separate barriers that she was maintaining. At least for the moment things were okay but her father had better hurry. She can’t maintain two separate barriers.

Not to mention, Hina was out cold and in the arms of the enemy! When Shukumei and Mikasa came to help out but Shiori was trying her hardest to keep both of the separate banners up. The only thing she could do is to have her dad attack the enemy with every thing he had but she wouldn’t want him to hurt Hina.

[Shiori]: “I have…an idea..but it’s going…to suck. We have to get Hina out of..there but…I am going to need both of your help…”

Shiori went to tell them both of the plan to save Hina and to deal with the threat of her hollowfied father! To sum it up Shukumei and Shiori would perform Rikujōkōrō and Mikasa could get Hina to safety. Shukumei thought that this was absolutely nuts…but she agreed. They had to be quick, so she drop the shield and in unison shouted “Bakudo number sixty-one: Rikujōkōrō!” Twelve bars of light slammed into the enemy and hollow Ryouji causing the enemy to forcibly drop Hina and Ryouji not to move or to avoid the move at all. Mikasa sprang into action and rushed over to collect Hina and to run back. Shiori attempted to put the barrier up but she immediately coughed up blood and fainted. Emi shouted Shiori’s name but she did not respond

The six beams of light around Ryouji weakened and vanished leaving Ryouji to deal with the enemy. Ryouji glanced at the enemy up close and personal before bringing up two fingers up to his eyes. He began to gather energy for an all black cero but before he could fire it, Azumi came from nowhere and sliced the hollow mask in half. The sliced half dropped to the ground and faded into nothingness. The rest of Ryouji mask fade to nothingness and Ryouji fell down onto the ground. Azumi dropped to her knees and was breathing heavily. She slowly reached toward the Rikujōkōrō holding the enemy in place and freed him.

[Azumi]: “Get…out of here…”

The enemy did what was asked of him and Azumi fell to the ground and passed out near her husband. If it wasn’t for Azumi, who knows where Ryouji’s hollow would have done. All that matters was that Hina was safe for now, but Shiori was not.
