Hina and her fellow classmates were on a training exercise of sorts in the world of the living. It was a bit much for Hina since she had never really left home to do anything like this. Sure, there was Shiori’s clinic, but that was helping people hea, not rescue or fight anything! It didn’t help that her disposition made it easy for some classmates to tease her. Regardless, she didn’t say anything. Not that she could, anyway. They would alwasy try to tease her about how her mother, Ryouji, and Shukumei were way much cooler than what she was. She would ignore it. Kids will be kids, even by Shinigami and/or Soul Society standards.
The teacher soon brought it to their attention that they would be looking for a Hollow. That it is their responsibility as future Shinigami to protect the balance of the world by clensing Hollows and sending the soul to either Soul Society or Hell which depended on their life as a human. When the Teacher brought the group to one, he was about to demonstrate what to do, one of the other students thought it wise to ignore his warnings and try to attack it himself. While he fended it off for a good bit, the Hollow became enraged and let out a shrill cry. Everyone then noticed a Garganta being ripped open in the sky as more hollows began to flood out. Several landed on the roof which resulted in the teacher to stand between the hollows and students. When the teacher told them to run, the others, including Hina, quickly obeyed and went to go and hide,
Somehow, Hina got lost and separated from everyone else. She hid behind a bush once she m ade it to the park, quickly taking out her soul phone. She wasn’t sure if it was the right thing to do, but the poor thing was scared. She quickly dialed a number, and waited for the person to pick up. She had meant to call her mother, but it looked like she got Ryouji instead. Not that it mattered. She just needed someone to come.
“Uncle Ryouji… I… We… I mean… Our class is in the world of the living but something strange happened… A hollow called for more Hollows and now the teacher if fighting them alone… Everone ran… I got separated and…”
It was then both Hina and Ryouji heard several Hollow roars which caused Hina to look up. She saw at least three in front of her, ready to attack.
“Please hurry!”
She had no other choice but to cut the call short and hang up. One lunged at her which she was easily able to roll out of the way, but the second one managed to hit her while the third managed to grab onto her. She struggled for a bit, unable to free herself. She was trying not to panic, but during the heat of things, it was really hard. Eventually, the Hollow would slam her down into the ground. After gaining her barings, she quickly got up and unsheathed her Zanpakuto. She wasn’t sure why she did instead of running. Maybe this is what humans call fight or flight? Perhaps she knew that even if she ran, they would follow. They wanted her dead no matter what. It was now or never.
Despite her best efforts, she did get roughed up pretty badly. On the verge of giving up, she felt her Zanpakuto pulse. It was faint, but she could hear a voice… It was a bit scary but somehow not at the same time? It reminded her of Ryouji in some ways.
“You… You’ll help me? H.. How? I’m not in the best of shape nor am I able to…”
It pulsed once more, but this time, more vigorously. It was as if it was encouraging her.
“How..? I don’t even know who you are…”
As Hina brought the blade closer to her face as if to study it, the Hollows would grow closer, ready to strike oonce more. With one final pulse, the trainee got her answer.
“Okay… I understand… I can’t keep running… We’ll fight together..”
She took a deep breath before exhaling. She would repeat the words she heard echoing in her mind. “Corrode into ashes… Tokimukage!”
Her Zanpakuto changed ever so slightly but the most notible change is that there was a hollow “vein” running from the tip of the blade to the bottom. Though uncertain why the spirit told her to do so, but she would slice the blade through her palm just enough for the blood to flow freely through the vein. Now, she would do her best to fend off the Hollows until Ryouji or someone was able to come.
